Sleeping in separate rooms as husband and wife is not peace.
It is the beginning of a group project nobody applied for.
You people will start booking appointment to visit each other like tenants.
Marriage is not a hostel in UNILAG. It is not NYSC orientation camp.
It is not “self-contain.”
You cannot be husband and wife and be operating like neighbours in the same compound because let me tell you what happens when you sleep separately:
No midnight gist, No random “are you awake? “No accidental leg touch that turns into Olympic finals. No “come closer joor, NEPA took light”
Instead, what do you have? Silence. Phone pressing. Overthinking.
And one unnecessary devil whispering, “He is online, but the person is not your wife or husband.”
Marriage needs Closeness. Laughter. Snoring competition.
Pillow fight and sometimes, peaceful quarrel that ends with “shift small, you’re blocking the fan.”
If you people start sleeping separately, even small misunderstanding will grow muscles.
Except for serious health issues, newborn baby wahala, medical reasons, I beg stay close because marriage is not distance learning. It is full-time practical class.
